Zone Diet Basics - What is the Zone Diet

The Zone Diet plan is a weight loss program created by Dr. Barry Sears. This is one of the most popular weight loss plans in the world with a huge following including many celebrities who swear by it such as Rene Zellwegger, Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ben Stiller, Sandra Bullock, Charlie Sheen, and others. Needless to say, this is a program which has a lot of publicity and gets its share of media attention.

Zone Diet Basics

The Zone Diet is based on a unique eating method in which your calorie consumption is divided in the following way: 40% of your calories should come from carbs, 30% from fat, and 30% from protein. This ratio is what Barry Sears believes is the natural ratio which our body needs to lose weight, avoid certain type of diseases, and feel good.

Forbidden Foods

It is recommended that most of your carbs be from fruit and vegetables. However, you should avoid bananas, raisins, and corn. Your protein should come from lean sources such as turkey, fish, egg whites, skinless chicken, tofu, and soy. Your fat consumption should be from olive oil, avocados, almonds, and should not come from processed foods, and items rich in trans-fats.

Results

There are many positive testimonials of the Zone Diet. A lot of people report losing weight with it. However, this diet does require careful planning to make sure you stick to the correct calorie ration. The good thing is that you can easily order home-delivered meals to help you stick to the diet without spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

Overall, this diet can work for you. However, if you're not into planning your meals and being careful with what you eat, then you need a less organized weight loss plan.
